MAMA (Maternal Acquaintance for Mom’s Awareness) – 25th May 2019

Maternal Mortality Ratio or Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI) is the number of maternal deaths due to complications of pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium period recorded within one year per 1000 live births at the same time. Jember, one of city in East Java, has to be first position of the highest maternal mortality ratio in East Java. According to the health profile of Kabupaten Jember, in 2014 in Arjasa Subdistrict, the drop out of antenatal care or ANC rate was very high (K1 = 97%; K4 = 47%). This condition certainly has a big influence on AKI in Jember. Therefore, MAMA (Maternal Acquaintance for Mom’s Awareness) decided to focus on the ANC, especially to increase the number of ANC visits in Kemuninglor Village, Arjasa Sub district, as a strategy to reduce maternal morality ratio in Jember Regency.

On Saturday, 25th May, 2019, Community Development of SCORA CIMSA UNEJ, MAMA, does intervention to the pregnant women and WUS in Kemuning Lor Village, Arjasa Sub district, Jember Regency. POKEMON (Program for Kids through Education and Management on Nutrition) – 25th May

POKEMON (Program for Kids through Education and Management on Nutrition) is one of CIMSA UNEJ’s COMDEV activity. POKEMON has been implemented since 2016 and become a sustainable activity. POKEMON aims to improve the nutritional status of students in SDN Karangrejo V, Sumbersari, Jember, East Java. It’s because the students of SDN Karangrejo V tend to have nutritional status between good and less(80%).

On Saturday, 25th May 2019, POKEMON held an intervention by providing guidance for the students in SDN Karangrejo V from 1st grade to 5th grade that have done by CIMSA UNEJ and also assisted by Dokter kecil. Students from each class seemed very enthusiastic and eager to take part in our training. At the beginning of the activity, we made an introduction. Then, the provision of balanced nutrition was delivered by the Little Doctor who had previously been at the previous briefing. Next, we sang a song. The song title is Healthy Breakfast. We also invite the students to come bravely in front of the class to sing this song. This simple action means to increase the confidence of each student.Continue reading

ECHO (Exchange Cigarettes for Healthier Organs) – World No Tobacco Day 2019

Tobacco is widely used by people around the world, especially people in Indonesia. Tobacco products are products made entirely or partly of leaf tobacco as raw material, which are intended to be smoked, sucked, chewed or snuffed. It contain by materials which are have no benefits moreover can cause diseases including cancer, lung diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. The WHO (World Health Organization) said that tobacco killing more than 7 million people a year, more than 6 million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while around 890.000 are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke. In 2017, Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Jember said that in Jember 263 productive age people (20-44 years) got Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)  (128 man, 135 woman) and 423 people got Heart Failure (198 man, 225 woman) because of the tobacco. It caused by the lack of awareness how dangerous the tobacco is. From here, SCOPH CIMSA UNEJ held a World No Tobacco Day 2019 campaign project named ECHO (Exchange Cigarettes for Healthier Organs).

Our project was held for four days. The first day on April 18, 2019, we was held a training for members, the second day on April 20, 2019, for the Radiobroadcast, the third day (April 21, 2019) and the last day (April 29, 2019) for Education and Ground Campaign. And we had colaboration with RS Paru Jember, K-Radio Jember, and Social Nursing Corporation (SNC) Nursing Faculty UNEJ.Continue reading
